Types and Function of Door Latches

The first step that almost all of us take to keep our home safe is using latches. When we discuss about door latches, first we need to know what is it all about. Well, door latches are the type of mechanical fastener which are used to combine at least two, or even more than that objects together. This process helps in allowing the regular or final separation of the objects.
Users must not confuse it with that of the concept of door locks. The mechanism involved with locking of doors and windows is something very different, and that of the latches is completely a different concept altogether. The door latches are available in a wide variety. Some of them are mentioned herein below:
  • The first type of latch is the Slam Latch. This type of latch involves spring and is used when the door is slammed. The mechanism involved is holding the door that is closed. It is apt for construction as well as industrial application.
  • The next one to name is Cam Lock. This latch comes with a base and a cam. The base is found where you will use the key to rotate the cam.
The most common types of latches are the spring latch, deadbolt latch, and rotary latch. Each of the latches is used as per its specific function. However, if you are concerned about the quality of the latch, then look no further than the Perko latches. It will give full security to your house, and also will not look odd on the doors or windows.
